A referral to the laboratory needs to come via a medical
doctor. In order to make a referral the referrer needs to either fill in
a referral form (click here for an e-form) or send a letter to the Gait
and Movement Laboratory (contact details). On receipt of a referral the
following process will be followed:
- Referral assessed by Gait Lab staff
- If the referral is appropriate the patient will be invited for a Gait Assessment
- At the Gait Assessment decisions will be made about which
assessments available in the lab are most appropriate according to
the presentation of the patient
- Appropriate data collected
- Data processed following appointment
- Interpretation of data by multidisciplinary team
- Report sent to referrer and other health professionals involved in patient's
care
