Here are some questions we are frequently asked about Gait Analysis. If you have other questions contact us. How long does an analysis take? For a full 3D gait analysis you will be in the lab for between an hour and a half and two hours. For a video analysis you will be in the lab for about half an hour For a video vector analysis you will be in the lab for about forty five minutes. For a pedobarograph analysis you will be in the lab for about forty five minutes. IN ALL CASES YOU WILL NOT BE WALKING FOR THE ENTIRE TIME What do I need to wear? Loose fitting, reasonably short shorts and a t-shirt are what most people wear. We need to put markers quite near the top of your legs and on your pelvis (around about where the waist band of your trousers or skirt would be). What we often end up doing is rolling peoples shorts up a bit and using some tape to keep them in that position. There are no windows in the laboratory so only staff involved in the analysis and any people you bring with you will see you in your shorts. How long will it take to get the results? The results will be sent to the person who referred within four to six weeks. After the appointment there is quite a lot of processing and analysis work to do to put the report together. We tend to send a copy to the referrer, GP and other health professionals involved however if you would like a copy ask at your appointment and we would be happy to send one. The person who referred you should arrange an appointment to see you after they have received the report. Please tell us if you have got an appointment coming up with the person who referred you so we can ensure the report gets to them at the appropriate time. Will gait analysis hurt? 3D gait analysis is a non invasive process. All the markers and electrodes stick to the surface of the skin. When the markers are removed it can feel a bit like a plaster being taken off.
